Section 8 Homeownership Program
| The Section
8 home ownership program is funded by the United States
Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)
as part of its housing assistance programs.
Qualified families who are already receiving Section
8 rental assistance and meet additional program guidelines
could use the assistance to become a homeowner. Once
approved, participants could purchase a home using
their subsidy as a down payment or as partial mortgage
payment. |

RDI can assist individuals and families who are already
qualified through the Section 8 homeownership program to
purchase a home. If you are eligible (see "Eligibility"
below), you may be able to qualify for additional financial
assistance to buy an RDI home.
Requirements include but are not limited to the following
guidelines:
• The family must be a first-time home buyer.
• Must be a Section 8 housing choice voucher participant
for at least one year
• Must be enrolled in the Section 8 Family Self-Sufficiency
(FSS) program
• Must satisfy the minimum income requirement
• Must satisfy the employment requirement
• Must attend a homeownership counseling program approved
by RDI.
• Must obtain their own financing, subject to the
approval of RDI
